At Village on the Green, we strongly recommend prospective residents visit our senior living community, whether in-person or virtually, before committing to a contract. However, there are some other online resources available that provide insight into the quality of care we provide.
Nursing Home Compare is one such tool. The U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) manages this federal government website that rates senior living communities. Village on the Green has a five-star rating (out of five) on the website. But how does that affect you?
Read on to learn more about CMS’ five-star quality rating system and the full range of on-site health care services we provide to residents that helped us earn this recognition.
What Is the Medicare Rating System?
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services launched the Nursing Home Compare website to help people compare quality of care at senior living communities across the United States. The service tracks Medicare- and Medicaid-certified nursing homes with skilled nursing providers.
The website lists an overall five-star rating for each community, alongside a separate five-star rating for three different service areas. Learn more about those individual ratings below.
- Health inspections — This rating factors in the three most recent health inspections and investigations due to complaints. The most recent survey findings carry more weight.
- Staffing — This rating factors in the number of hours of care provided on average to each resident each day by nursing staff. A nursing home with residents who require more care would be expected to have more nursing staff on duty at any given time.
- Quality of resident care measures — The quality measure factors in 15 different physical and clinical measures for nursing home residents. It rates the level of care provided.
Village on the Green currently has a five-star rating on Nursing Home Compare website. Our team takes pride in this rating and strives to provide the highest level of care possible.
Note that the Medicare website offers additional resources for making your search for a senior living community easier, including this nursing home guide and nursing home checklist.
